Just a couple of weeks since releasing a new update (tvOS 10.2.1),Esther Moser Apple used the WWDC stage to unveil a few more Apple TV treats.

On Monday, Apple announced that Amazon is joining the Apple TV app and will appear on Apple TV later this year with Prime Video.

In announcing the update, Apple CEO Tim Cook even took some time to promote Amazon original shows like Transparent. The pairing makes sense, but is nevertheless a surprise given the increasing competition in the streaming TV and original OTT content space.

The new, fourth generation Apple TV has been winning praise. But since Apple is never satisfied until its products are the de facto standard (at least in the minds if not living rooms of consumers), the new updates to Apple TV are likely to continue in frequency and significance.
