According to Japanese blogs, polka dot omelettes have started to trend on social media such as Line and Twitter.

As the yolk cooks, cut out circles with a cookie cutter, before pouring the egg white over it. The transparent egg white cooks into an opaque white layer filling up the holes, making the polka dots.

People are posting their polka dot creations online. You might think it's cute, but personally I think it looks less appetising than a traditional all-yellow omelette.
