Though more details of the case are under lock and key, CNN confirmed it is being investigated by LADA's special sex crimes task force.

In November 2017, LA County Dist. Atty. Jackie Lacey announced the creation of said special task force, made up of veteran sex crimes prosecutors, to investigate the stream of locally reported sexual assault allegations coming out of Hollywood, including those against producer Harvey Weinstein and others.

The Spacey-related case review comes six months after the actor was accused of sexual misconduct by Star Trek: Discoveryand Rent actor Anthony Rapp, who publicly claimed Spacey made a "sexual advance" toward him as a teenager in 1986.

Spacey addressed the accusations, saying that he did not remember the incident, but if it did happen, he "owes [Rapp] the sincerest apology for what would have been deeply inappropriate drunken behavior." In that same Twitter message, Spacey came out as gay, leading many to criticize him for trying to divert attention from the assault allegation.

Spacey was erased from Oscar-nominated All the Money in the World, a drama based on the 1973 kidnapping of J. Paul Getty's grandson, after misconduct allegations surfaced. The movie released over Christmas with Christopher Plummer taking over the role of the billionaire businessman.
